Wholesale Cheesemonger – Mellis Cheese

Who are we?

Mellis Cheese is an Edinburgh-based artisan food business renowned for its premium cheeses, charcuterie, sundries, and specialist drinks selection. Operating from our Maturing Rooms in Leith, we supply our six retail shops alongside wholesale customers across the UK.

We are currently hiring both for a full-time and part-time Wholesale Cheesemonger to support the smooth day-to-day running of our wholesale operations. This is a varied, hands-on role involving order preparation, cheese care, warehouse organisation, and delivery driving duties.

We are recruiting for both:

• Part-time: 24-hour contract
• Full-time: 40-hour contract

Hours are worked across Monday to Saturday on a changing rota basis, with additional hours available during busy trading periods, particularly over the festive season.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

• Pick, cut, pack, and prepare customer orders accurately for retail sites and wholesale customers
• Carry out delivery driving duties, ensuring goods are transported safely and efficiently to customers across the country
• Assist with the care and maturation of cheeses in line with company standards
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation throughout the warehouse
• Follow all company health, safety, food hygiene, and manual handling procedures
• Assist with stocktakes, stock rotation, and inventory checks
• Prepare pallets and dispatch orders to meet customer specifications and deadlines

Requirements:

• Hold a full and valid UK driving licence
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Comfortable working in chilled environments and undertaking manual handling tasks
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Previous experience in food retail, hospitality or warehouse environment is desirable but not essential
