Delivery & Returns

Delivery Costs:

For Edinburgh (EH1-EH22) deliveries, delivery is complimentary for orders over £20.

For deliveries to the Highlands and Islands, delivery is complimentary for orders over £40.

For deliveries across the remainder of the UK, delivery is complimentary for orders over £30.

A delivery a charge of £8.00 will be added if the delivery minimum is not met. This helps us to cover the rising costs of shipping and couriers.

When To Place An Order:

When placing your order, please specify your preferred delivery date. Our website will provide you with the available dates based on your postcode. During peak times, we recommend ordering at your earliest convenience, to ensure your preferred delivery date is available.

Although we do our best to get your cheese delivered on your preferred date, occasionally delays with couriers occur. Because of this, we cannot guarantee your order will arrive on your requested delivery date. If you are ordering cheese for a special occasion, gift or deadline, we recommend requesting a date one to two days in advance of your deadline, to ensure your cheese arrives on time.

Delivery Date / Time / Tracking The Parcel:

As we are using a third party (an independent transporter) we cannot guarantee a delivery on your chosen day however, we don’t often experience trouble with our chosen transport company. We will usually send parcels to Highlands and Islands recipients with Parcelforce, Edinburgh with our own company drivers, and the remainder of the UK with DPD.

Please bear in mind that deliveries will be made daytime but without any certainty about the exact hour. In order to receive delivery updates from the courier, please include a valid mobile number with your order when placing it. If you’re not going to be in please specify where you’d like it delivered to (safe place) when placing your order with us. Please note that, since cheese is a refrigerated good, we cannot always honour safe place requests or special delivery requests. Also note that if you leave a request for a courier to contact you in advance of delivery, they will usually not honour this request. If you have specific requests about delivery, please get in touch with us at enquiries@mellischeese.co.uk.

Please note that any orders that are placed using the “store collection” will be ready for collection at your chosen store AFTER noon unless stated otherwise.

Packaging:

All of our orders are packaged in our signature Mellis branded boxes, with recycled carboard cushioning to support the contents, along with a Cheesemonger Handbook. Please note that the packaging is the same, regardless of whether or not the order is a gift. During the warmer months, we pack the cheeses with ice packs to help support it through warm temperatures.

Reclamations / Returns :

Cheese is a perishable good, therefore we cannot accept returns. However, if there is something you suspect to be wrong with your order please contact us immediately and send us a picture of the product. If the cheese or other products have been damaged, we can provide you with a refund for your purchase.

Since we cannot guarantee delivery dates, we do not provide refunds or replacements for orders that arrive a day or two later or earlier than your preferred delivery date. If your order is more than two days late, please get in touch with us so that we can investigate and assist.
