Product Description

For your favourite aspiring cheesemonger, a custom I.J. Mellis 30th Anniversary apron made by Kestin, and the acclaimed book Our Isles: A Portrait of British Cheese by Angus Birditt. Kestin is a Scottish men’s clothing brand founded by Kestin Hare, and based in his hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland. Kestin the brand was created to redefine modern Scottish design by blending innovation with tradition. The flagship store neighbours I.J. Mellis in Stockbridge, on Bakers Place. Our 30th Anniversary apron pays homage to the inspiration behind Iain Mellis’s first cheese shop, and we’re thrilled that Kestin was able to capture this spirit in a beautiful, timeless design. Our Isles: A Portrait of British Cheese celebrates the excellence of artisan and farmhouse cheese in the British Isles, expressing it as a product of the land, its animals, and its people, offering a snapshot of rural life, artisan traditions and delicious dishes. Photographer and writer Angus D. Birditt has been visiting and documenting dairies all over the British Isles, looking at the food, people and landscapes dedicated to artisan and farmhouse cheeses. From Britain’s own Brie in the form of Baron Bigod from Suffolk, to Appleby’s Cheshire cheese from the heart of rural Shropshire, this is a unique journey through photos, essays and recipes, revealing the joys and challenges of a life in cheesemaking. A necessary tool for those learning about the best of British cheeses.
